If you are interested in becoming a Board member of the Lake of the Woods District Hospital please review the following information which outlines the process, duties, responsibilities, and other important information for prospective Board members. If you have questions that you would like answered prior to applying, please contact any of the following members of the Board Nominating Committee who would be happy to try to answer them. Process for Becoming a Board Member of LWDH
To be eligible to become a board member you must meet the qualifications as set out in the Hospital By-Laws (Article 4.02) and Governance Policies of the hospital including:
Corporate membership applications are available on the hospital web site www.lwdh.on.ca and once completed and accompanied by the $5 annual membership fee can be either dropped off at the hospital Administration offices or mailed to:

Board Member application forms are also available on the hospital web site www.lwdh.on.ca and once completed can either be mailed to the above address or dropped off at the hospital Administration offices.
A member of the Hospital Nominating committee will contact you to discuss your application and if appropriate, arrange for a meeting where you will be interviewed to determine suitability.
After interviewing candidates the Nominating Committee will prepare a list of recommended nominees for the Board.
The Hospital Board of Directors will, at an in-camera session, review the recommendations for Board membership and make a final determination on candidates who will be recommended to the corporate membership for election at the June Annual General Meeting of the Hospital Corporation.
Once elected at the Corporations AGM, the new Board members will assume their position immediately following the meeting.
Duties and Responsibilities of Board Members
You are strongly recommended to review the hospital’s Governance Policy Manual which, as a whole, will help you understand the framework in which the Board operates. In particular you are asked to review and understand the Boards policies on:
