Job Description:

Lake of the Woods District Hospital is looking for a full time Biomedical Technologist to join the Information Technology Services and Biomedical team. The Biomedical Technologist function within the on-site biomedical maintenance program, to complete daily technical support and preventative maintenance related to clinical allied health and support services equipment

 

Preferred Skills:

The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications and skills:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent required.
    • Must be a graduate with a diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution
    • Independent work experience within th past two years related to clinical biomedical technology and maintenance in an acute Hospital setting
    • Strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Proficiency in use of computer applications including Microsoft programs
    • Good hearing ability in order to recognize sounds that indicate equipment malfunctioning, emergency sirens, paging and warning devices
    • Colour vision to identify colour coded wires
    • Have numerical ability to compute arithmetic calculations, in testing, installing and estimating
    • Spatial perception to visualize equipment and layout of the relationship of parts from circuit diagrams or drawings
    • Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to handle parts and use hand tools, power tools and test equipment
    • Ability to work rapidly under emergency conditions
    • Ability to handle a variety of changing duties resulting from the complexities of electronic apparatus and equipment
    • Adaptability to work in situations involving exposure to high voltage wiring, heights, confined spaces, moving parts, chemicals, odours, dust, adverse weather and environmental conditions such as heat, humidity, and cold
    • Must be physically capable of performing the essential duties of the job
