Description:

“Quality Health Care from a Quality Team… Looking Well in the Future”

As the LWDH mission statement describes, this is our care goal for our community and this mission forms the foundation of the patient safety program.

Every staff member at LWDH strives to provide a safe environment and safe, quality care to our patients.

The Patient Safety program at LWDH is integrated into the Quality & Risk Management programs. Patient safety is a priority and a basic value extending  from the Board of Directors to each front-line staff member. The LWDH Patient Safety strategy is updated annually by the Patient Safety/Risk Management Committee. Through Accreditation Canada’s health care assessment program, the hospital seeks to meet national standards and best practices for patient safety. Through the Ontario Hospital Association, we participate in “Your Health Care Be Involved” program. We provide written information to each inpatient on how patients and families can participate in the patient safety program. A new program launched in October 2008 the OHA “Clean Hands Protect Lives” will provide information to patients and families on the importance of hand cleaning and patient safety.
