Description:

The Infection Prevention and Control department of the Lake of the Woods District Hospital provides quality patient care by monitoring the infectious processes occurring in the hospital. Education is provided to staff regarding proper technique, isolation procedures and the wearing of personal protective equipment. There is liaison with the Northwestern Health Unit regarding tuberculosis, STD’s and outbreaks both in the community and in hospital. Surveillance is carried out to identify nosocomial (hospital acquired) infections and investigate causes
